New Android Application

So I have been writing a small android application that uses your Strava data and allows you to compare you play a top trumps style game against you other Strava friends who also have the app. The data uses your activities  from the previous week and allows you to view the previous months stats as well as the the current years.

Please download it and give it a go. If you have any suggestions let me know.

You can download it from the google play store or search for Ultra Stats.

"Computer geek, triathlete and all round good guy"

So managed to make it into the free paper that my local bike shop prestige cycles creates. Think they describe me fairly well and I didn't even have to bribe them.

FIT File Previewer for Windows

So I recently changed from using the Garmin Ant+ Agent to the new Garmin Express software. Garmin express is pretty nice as it will sync data from both my 910xt and 500 straight to Garmin Connect and on to Strava. So I can share with my friends how much (or little) training I have been doing with out having to login to multiple websites.

Now I also need to have access to the FIT files directly so I can put them into RaceDay so I can sync them with my coach and she can tell me to stop missing sessions and get training. This is where lies the massive inconvenience. Garmin have decided to change the way that they name their files when storing them locally. Previously the Ant+ Agent would store you FIT files in %AppData%\Garmin\Devices\[device-id]\Activities. And the files name would contain the date and time of the activity.

In the new Gamin Express they have move the location of the files to %programdata%\Garmin\GarminConnect\[device-id]\Upload\FIT_TYPE_4, and have changed the files names to be sequential numbers. Which makes it hard to figure out which file I need to select if I have been lazy and have uploaded any data for a couple of days.

To get around this major inconvenience I decided to do something about it and have written a small extension for Windows Explorer that provides you a snippet of summary information in the preview pane when you select a FIT File.

So far I have only tested this on Windows 7 (x64) and Windows 8 (x64). If you have any problems post a comment below.

You can download and install it using the link below.
